This is my personal journal. I also have a writing journal, calen_fic.

My name is Maia, I'm in college (and that's as specific as I'm getting about my age), I'm from Alaska but currently residing in California, and I seriously need a life. Until such a time may come when I get one, I make do with various fandom obsessions instead.

Let's see, what else is there to say about me? I sometimes do website maintenance for work, and I have my own personal site, though it's sadly down right now, but my true passion in life is writing. I could care less about most sports, but I love archery, though will warn anyone who wants to try it that it is quite difficult, even if it does look easy in the movies, and I used to fence. I love the outdoors - the wide open spaces are among my favorite things about my home. I'm bi and proud. I'm a Unitarian Universalist with pantheist beliefs; I consider myself very spiritual but not religious. I think the internet is one of the greatest things ever created, therefore I spend far too much time on it. I am a diehard shipper, mostly of the canon het variety. (Some days I feel like the only het shipper left on the internet.) Most of my fandoms are book-based; I adore reading. I love fantasy but I'm not so hot on sci-fi, and I hate it when bookstores don't make a distinction between the two. I write fanfic, original fiction, poetry, and very occasionally creative non-fiction.

I adore my friends more than anything else on earth. I also think most of them are completely insane, but I love them for it.

My writing can be found on the Pit of Voles, fictionpress, and my personal site. If you see "calenlily" somewhere on the net, it's me. I have accounts in a number of places, not all of them particularly active.

My policy on lj friends: I like the division between real life and online life, and I like making friends here because I get the happiness of friends and the comfortable safe feeling of the relative anonymity. I feel like I can freely talk about real life here precisely because no one here knows me in real life. So however you found me here, feel free to friend away, I friend back. And please comment! Don't be shy because you feel you don't know me that well, that's expected and I like getting to know people better. And I really like to feel like people are actually reading my posts. Does that make sense?
